For those who have never been to the Outer Banks, I feel for you! Ocracoke Island was rated one of the top ten beaches in North America- much to my dismay. I worry the publicity will bring more tourists to the island. Good for the local economy, but I do hope my rustic little island village does not lose its charm and grace! One day- if Ed McMahon ever pays up ( haha) I will live there and own a little gift shop open five months out of the year! The rest of the time will be spend layng on the beach, listening to the waves!!

One of the oldest light houses in North Carolina, and the fabled hideout of Edward Teach ( aka Blackbeard). The lighthouse is not open to the public, however there is an information stand and you can take all the photos you want!!
